Participation: Each federation can register one (1) player in each of the categories - under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 (boys and girls), the maximum number of twelve (12) players (“invited players”). The players placed 1-3 in the previous European Youth Chess Championship will have the personal right to participate in the tournament in the corresponding age-category or a higher age-category if they fulfill the conditions that they have not reached the age of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 or 18 years, respectively, by January 1st 2012. This privilege may be exercised once exclusively in the subsequent year following the year of the qualification. In order to ensure proper tournament standards, all invited players and extra players have to register through their national federations before 30th June 2012 (registration deadline). The entry form should be filled in by the national federation on the official website of the championship. Each federation can register an unlimited number of extra players. Access to playing areas, venues and the hotel will be allowed only to people accredited by the organizer. The entry form must be filled in by the national federation on the official website of the championship no later than 30th June 2012. This date is the registration deadline. After that, federations will not be able to register or modify any registrations. After this date all the registrations have to be confirmed by the organizer and the ECU. The time rate will be 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one. Zero-tolerance rule will be applied for each round. Communication between players (the offer of draw) is forbidden until the 40th move has been played

27.8. - 1.9.2012, Riga (LAT), VIII Baltic school chess festival 2012
Time and venue. Festival will be held in 5 star Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel, 24 Kugu street, Riga, Latvia, from August 27 (day of arrival) until September 1 (day of departure) 2012. Opening ceremony takes place on the August 28th at 14.00, followed by round 1 at 14.30. The last round 7 will be on the September 1st at 10.00. Participants.Each team shall consist of 4 participants: 3 boys and 1 girl, born in 1995 or younger. All participants must have category 1 or higher. Tournament. The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 7 rounds. Only FIDE ratings will be used for the pairings. Prizes and awards. The teams which take 1-3 places will be awarded with cups, diplomas and special prizes. Individual prizes will be awarded to players who take 1- 3 places on each board. Fund of individual prizes is 800 USD (1st place - 100 USD, 2nd place - 60 USD, 3rd place - 40 USD). Conditions. Teams are responsible for their transportation cost, accommodation and lodging. All chess players and coaches will be accommodated in the 5 star Radisson Blu Daugava which is only 25 euro per day in a “triple” room per person, breakfast is included. Accommodation for parents is 27 euro (“triple” room). It is possible to upgrade to: „double” room - 65euro; „single” room - 55 euro. The entry fee is 50 EUR/team.
